Working with the Vandevelde women is always a joy! Working with the Vandevelde women is always a joy! In addition to reinventing Liz and Ann’s dresses, SYC worked with their amazing mom, @vandygirls. Together, Ashley and Adelaide created this CUSTOM, hand pleated corset, allowing her to feel her absolute best for this special occasion.

We hope you enjoy this little peak behind the scenes in our studio from this last month and get a glimpse into what you might see at your first fitting! SYC is ready to start working with our lovely fall clients in September; there is still time to get an appointment!
It is hard to believe that only one year ago, the It is hard to believe that only one year ago, the Something You Couture team made the big move to Ashley’s dream studio in downtown Birmingham. @thisisashleygootee started Something You Couture part-time in 2017 after getting fired from her corporate fashion job. After 22 years in the fashion industry, working on a variety of different projects, she wanted to pursue a career in what she loved, making women feel their best on their special day with custom couture gowns, heirloom reinventions, and high-end alterations! In January of 2020, she decided to make the move to Birmingham, and make SYC her full time job, and set a timeline of three years to make it. Starting in what Ashley would call her “hobbit studio,” a 450 square foot basement studio, two and a half years later, aka one year ago, SYC moved to their gorgeous downtown studio our clients now know and love. We wouldn’t have gotten here if it were for all of our fabulous clients, the ones who trusted us in our tiny basement, to the ones we see today, in what Ashley would say is her dream studio.
