When Colleen Bordeaux started shopping for her dream wedding gown, she couldn’t find anything that felt true to who she was. So, Colleen turned to her best friend Ashley Gootee, a former Zac Posen and Peter Som designer and one of six designers chosen by the Chicago Fashion Incubator, to design the dress of her dreams. At first, Ashley said no, as bridal was not her focus at the time, but running her own contemporary women’s line. After a lil begging from Colleen and a famous eye roll from Ashley, she reluctantly agreed to make her best friend feel her best on her big day.
While Colleen’s gown was the first couture piece that Ashley designed, it obviously is far from the last. In designing this gown, Ashley found her niche in bridal couture that meshed with her love for high-end fashion.
Colleen once again convinced Ashley she needed to enter the couture world after both of them had a rough day. So enjoying some wine, Colleen knew this was the perfect time to persuade Ashley to do what she loved, making women feel beautiful through clothing.
